The Independent National Electoral Commissions (INEC), the body responsible for the conduction of elections in Nigeria has postponed the 2019 General elections scheduled to hold today, February 16th 2019 to February 23rd, 2019; exactly a week after the former date. The commission cited ‘logistics reasons’ as the reason for the postponement. It however failed to state if the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections scheduled for March 2nd will still hold on the same date.

It should be noted, however, that this is not the first time the commission has been postponing elections. Under the current government disposition, the commission has been met with several irregularities that have undermined the credibility It crested in the hearts of Nigerians after the 2015 General elections which was adjudged to be the freest and fairest election the country has ever had till date. More update about this news is upcoming.
