Top political heavyweights from Enugu State have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election, declaring full support for his re-election bid after a high-level meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The delegation, led by Governor Peter Mbah, featured a mix of influential figures across politics, security, and academia, including former Senate President Ken Nnamani, ex-governors Sullivan Chime and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and elder statesman Jim Nwobodo, alongside senior military officials and federal lawmakers.
Speaking after the meeting, Tinubu welcomed the endorsement, linking the growing political alignment with the ruling APC to the impact of his administration’s economic reforms. He said states are beginning to see tangible results in infrastructure, healthcare, and education due to improved funding and collaboration with the federal government.
The president praised Mbah’s leadership, pointing to visible progress in security, infrastructure, and social services in Enugu, and pledged continued federal backing, particularly in critical areas like rail connectivity and power sector reforms.
Tinubu also took a swipe at past administrations over electricity privatisation, blaming lingering power challenges on previous policies while insisting his government is working to fix the system and lay a stronger economic foundation.
In his remarks, Mbah described the visit as a clear signal of unity and shared vision, saying the people of Enugu are firmly aligned with the president’s agenda for economic transformation. He noted that Tinubu’s interventions and project inaugurations during his January 2025 visit helped accelerate development across the state.
The governor declared that the delegation spoke for over seven million Enugu citizens, affirming that their support for Tinubu in 2027 is “total and unequivocal.”
Backing the position, Nnamani said the state’s progress under Mbah would not have been possible without federal support, insisting that Enugu stands solidly behind the president and will deliver for him at the polls.
