Media entrepreneur and Ovation publisher, Dele Momodu, has dismissed speculation linking him to a possible vice-presidential ticket alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, declaring he has no intention of contesting for elective office again.

Momodu, who reacted on Thursday via his social media platforms, described the viral claim as a calculated distraction and urged his supporters and political allies to ignore it.

“When I first received this poster from a friend, I dismissed it as a joke designed to distract us… I will be most grateful if my friends and party members can do me the honour of ignoring this joke,” he said.

Reiterating his stance, the publisher said, “I’m not running for any race again. I’m interested in humbly supporting the coalition of political parties, to work together and oust the incompetent APC government.”

Momodu explained that his focus ahead of the 2027 general elections would be on strengthening collaboration among opposition parties rather than pursuing personal ambition. He added that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) already boasts credible figures capable of contesting top offices.

According to him, there are “more than enough leaders” within the party who are better positioned for electoral contests.

The media figure also decried what he described as sustained attacks on Atiku, reminding critics that Peter Obi had previously run alongside the former vice president in the 2019 presidential election. He called for restraint in political discourse and cautioned against incendiary rhetoric directed at opponents, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Momodu maintained that he would support whoever emerges as his party’s candidate, stressing that his overriding priority is building a strong and united opposition front.

The development comes amid ongoing realignments within Nigeria’s opposition space as parties explore coalition options ahead of 2027. Political observers say Momodu’s clarification could dampen early speculation around potential tickets, while reinforcing internal party dynamics within the ADC.

It may also shift attention back to key contenders and intensify efforts toward coalition-building aimed at challenging the ruling party.
