The Labour Party has congratulated the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, on his third anniversary in office, describing him as the finest product of the party’s performance in the 2023 general elections.
In a statement issued on Friday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa, the party said Otti’s administration has continued to distinguish itself through what it called purposeful leadership, bold reforms and impactful governance across Abia State.
The party noted that the governor’s achievements over the past three years have attracted national recognition and favourable ratings from different organisations, adding that his performance has strengthened the Labour Party’s reputation ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Governor Otti remains the finest outcome of the party’s 2023 electoral outing, and in the last three years, he has continued to demonstrate that the Labour Party truly governs with a difference,” the statement read.
According to the party, Otti’s record in office has earned him a reputation as one of Nigeria’s best-performing governors, insisting that his administration reflects the ideals and promises championed by the Labour Party during the last election cycle.
“His outstanding performance in office, widely acknowledged by several rating organisations across the country, has earned him the reputation of being Nigeria’s best performing governor.
As a party, we are proud that the nation’s most impactful governor today is a product of the Labour Party,” the statement added.
The Labour Party also expressed confidence that Abia voters would reward the governor with renewed support in the 2027 governorship election, citing ongoing reforms and infrastructure development under his administration.
The statement further claimed that despite political distractions and opposition from forces linked to previous administrations in the state, Otti has remained focused on delivering governance and economic transformation.
“The party is particularly delighted that despite distractions and needless opposition from individuals and forces that held Abia State hostage for over two decades before his rescue mission, Governor Otti has remained focused, resolute and committed to delivering purposeful governance to the people,” the party stated.
Political observers believe the Labour Party’s strong endorsement of Otti may further position him as one of the party’s leading figures nationally ahead of the next electoral cycle, especially at a time when the opposition party continues efforts to consolidate its influence beyond the 2023 elections.
