Abdul’Aziz Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council, has declared that President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election, insisting that the ruling party is positioned to retain power beyond 2031.
Yari made the declaration while speaking with journalists at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, shortly after the presidency unveiled the APC presidential campaign council for the 2027 election.
Afrilensnews reports that the Zamfara senator expressed strong confidence in Tinubu’s re-election bid despite growing political opposition ahead of the poll.
The newly constituted campaign council is chaired by President Tinubu, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda among its principal officials. Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was named secretary, while Yari was appointed Director-General.
The composition of the council has already generated controversy, particularly over the inclusion of serving public officials and some individuals facing unresolved allegations. Former Humanitarian Affairs Minister Betta Edu and former NSITF board chair Ngozi Olejeme are also listed among members whose inclusion has attracted scrutiny.
Despite the criticism, Yari said the campaign council would work towards securing another mandate for Tinubu in 2027. “Today, we have seen him as president today, and by God’s grace, he shall be the president come 2027,” he said.
The APC campaign council chief also assured Nigerians that the party would honour the commitments made during the 2023 presidential campaign.
“I want to assure Nigerians that whatever promise we made during the campaign, we shall keep to our promises. Our party is synonymous with keeping to our words,” he said.
Yari further called for divine guidance for President Tinubu, saying the campaign council would support the administration in delivering on its commitments to Nigerians.
“We pray that Almighty Allah will give him the wisdom to lead this country. We assure Nigerians that we shall fulfill all our campaign promises,” Yari said.
Looking beyond the 2027 election, the former Zamfara governor predicted that the APC would remain in control of the presidency after Tinubu completes a possible second term. “We pray that our party will continue to be the party to lead the country after President Tinubu’s second term,” he added.
Yari’s declaration is likely to intensify political debate ahead of the 2027 election, particularly with opposition parties and emerging political alliances seeking to challenge the APC’s dominance at the federal level.
The statement also signals the ruling party’s confidence in its campaign structure and its determination to begin consolidating support well ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
