A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Abdul-Rahoof Bello, popularly known as Labelabe, has raised alarm over what he described as an alleged coordinated attempt by terrorists to seize parts of Yorubaland, particularly communities in Kwara South.
Speaking on Sunrise Daily, a programme aired by Channels Television on Monday, Bello expressed outrage over the wave of attacks ravaging communities in Oro-Ago, the home area of Kwara State Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, accusing both the deputy governor and the state government of silence and inaction.
“The states, well, I don’t know why the states cannot mobilize the deputy. All the communities in Oro-Ago that were, you know, desolated are the communities of the sitting deputy governor of the states. And we have not heard a single word from him, either as condolence or in sympathy with the victims,” Bello said. “He has not even visited the villages. Right? So, I don’t know.”
Bello also criticised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, accusing his administration of failing to move beyond rhetoric in addressing the security crisis.
“Well, the governor visited some places in the past, like he visited Oke-Ode, he visited Babanla, et cetera. But apart from that, yes, governor himself has not been forthcoming enough. We should graduate from sending condolences and press statements. We should go into real action,” he stated.
He warned that the attacks were not isolated incidents but part of a calculated and coordinated agenda.
“Because these people have agenda. It has been coordinated attacks. What is the agenda? The agenda is to displace the Yoruba for the aliens to occupy our land.
That is the agenda,” Bello said.
His remarks come amid rising tension in Kwara South, where repeated attacks on rural communities have triggered displacement and growing fear among residents, further intensifying concerns over insecurity in the region.
