The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, following the commissioning of major judicial infrastructure projects in Abuja aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s justice system.

Afrilensnews reports that the projects commissioned include a newly completed Court of Appeal Complex equipped with modern facilities and a 20-unit residential quarters for Justices of the Court of Appeal and Judges of the Federal High Court. Another 20-unit residential quarters for judges of the Federal Capital Territory judiciary is also

scheduled for commissioning.

The party also welcomed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of residential quarters for Judges of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria and the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The project, which forms part of broader interventions in the justice sector, is expected to be completed by January 2027.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party described the projects as evidence of President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting the rule of law and safeguarding the independence of the judiciary.

“The delivery of these critical and massive judicial infrastructure projects reflects President Tinubu’s iron-clad commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting the rule of law, upholding the independence of the judiciary, and guaranteeing the dignity and welfare of judicial officers,” Morka said.

According to the APC, the provision of modern court facilities and quality accommodation for judicial officers represents a strategic investment in the administration of justice and the consolidation of democratic governance.

“The APC recognises that the provision of world-class court facilities and quality accommodation for judicial officers represents a strategic investment in the administration of justice, and consolidation of democratic governance.

By improving the working and living conditions of judicial officers, the administration is promoting judicial efficiency while reinforcing public confidence in our justice system,” the statement added.

The party further praised Wike for what it described as his dedication, leadership and prompt execution of projects designed to support President Tinubu’s agenda of institutional reform and infrastructure development.

“We extend our profound commendation to Hon. Minister Wike for his unalloyed commitment, leadership, effective and timely execution of these projects in realization of President Tinubu’s broader vision of institutional reform, infrastructure development, and national progress,” Morka stated.

The APC noted that the projects, unveiled during the third anniversary period of the Tinubu administration, underscore the government’s focus on improving justice delivery and deepening democratic governance.

Political observers say the investments could help address longstanding concerns over inadequate judicial infrastructure, improve the welfare of judges, enhance the efficiency of court operations and strengthen public confidence in the judiciary.

The projects are also expected to reduce accommodation challenges facing judicial officers and support faster dispensation of justice in the Federal Capital Territory and beyond.
