Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has urged his supporters to remain focused on the 2027 presidential election, dismissing discussions and controversies that do not directly contribute to the campaign to secure his election and inauguration as Nigeria’s next president.
In a strongly worded message to his supporters, Obi emphasized the need for discipline, concentration and strategic focus, insisting that the movement should not be distracted by peripheral issues ahead of the next general election.
“My dear supporters, REMEMBER, WE HAVE MOVED ON AND FOCUSED ON THE BIGGER PICTURE!!!!” Obi declared.
He further directed supporters to avoid engaging in debates or conversations unrelated to the 2027 presidential contest.
“Any conversation that is not about the 2027 presidential election and how to get Peter Obi elected and sworn into office, please ignore!!!!!”
The former Anambra State governor stressed that any responses to ongoing political controversies or criticisms could wait until after the elections, noting that the immediate priority remains the presidential race.
“After the 2027 General Elections we will have the luxury to respond if it is worth our time. For now we will continue with our tunnel vision on the presidential election!!!!!” he stated.
Afrilensnews reports that Obi’s latest message appears aimed at consolidating his support base and preventing distractions amid increasing political activities, realignments and public debates ahead of the 2027 elections.
The statement signals a strategic shift toward a single-minded campaign focus, with supporters being encouraged to channel their energy into voter mobilization, grassroots engagement and building momentum for the next presidential contest rather than engaging in political exchanges that could divert attention from the larger objective.
Political observers say the directive may help strengthen message discipline within the Obi movement and keep supporters aligned around a common goal.
However, critics could argue that avoiding engagement on certain political issues may limit opportunities to shape public narratives and respond to emerging developments.
With more than a year before the official campaign season begins, Obi’s remarks underscore the growing significance of the 2027 presidential race and the efforts by major political actors to position themselves and their supporters for what is expected to be a highly competitive election.
