The Commissioner representing Enugu State at  Federal Character Commission (FCC), Peter Eze has reaffirmed his commitment to empowering Enugu youths with access to information, opportunities and platforms capable of improving their future.

Eze on Monday made the commitment while receiving executive members of the National Association of Youths in Politics (NAYIP), led by its National Coordinator, Amb. Ofodile Emeka, during a strategic visit focused on the association’s participation in the forthcoming Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026.

Afrilensnews reports that the programme, themed “Beyond Quotas: Unlocking Opportunities for Enugu Youths Through the Federal Character Commission,” is designed to provide young people with practical information, connections and greater understanding of opportunities available through the Federal Character Commission and other relevant areas of personal and professional development.

As Chairman of the FCC Committee on Works, Transport and Aviation, Eze is positioned to provide young people with valuable insight into the workings of the Commission, particularly the opportunities and pathways available to Nigerians within the framework of federal character and equitable representation.

The Youth Connect initiative is therefore expected to serve as a practical platform where Enugu youths can gain firsthand information, engage with relevant stakeholders and better understand how they can access legitimate opportunities within government institutions and related sectors.

Eze stressed that participation in the programme is completely free, insisting that every Enugu youth, regardless of political affiliation, social background or personal connections, deserves an opportunity to participate and benefit.

“This is about opening doors, expanding access and ensuring that no Enugu youth is left behind,” Eze stated.

His position reflects a broader approach to youth engagement that emphasises inclusion and equal access, rather than limiting opportunities to individuals based on party affiliation, personal connections or social status.

The involvement of NAYIP further highlights the growing importance of youth participation in political and civic affairs, particularly at a time when young Nigerians are seeking meaningful pathways into governance, employment, leadership and professional advancement.

Observers believe initiatives such as Peter Eze Youth Connect could help bridge the gap between young people and government institutions by providing participants with clearer information about available opportunities and how to pursue them.

For many youths who may otherwise struggle to identify or access such opportunities, the programme’s free participation policy could make it more accessible and potentially more impactful.

Eze’s role within the Federal Character Commission also gives the initiative an institutional dimension, bringing the conversation beyond political engagement to issues of opportunity, representation, inclusion and youth development.

With the involvement of NAYIP and other youth-focused organisations, Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026 is expected to attract wider youth participation and further place youth empowerment at the centre of discussions about the future of Enugu.

The initiative is ultimately aimed at ensuring that young people are not merely informed about opportunities but are better equipped to understand, pursue and benefit from them.
