The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Dr. Victor Umeh, OFR (Ohamadike Ndigbo) on Friday, July 24, 2026 flagged off the distribution of the 2nd Phase of Agricultural Input Empowerment Programme in Anambra Central Senatorial District.
The Exercise which was organized in partnership with the Pinatech Engineering Nig. Ltd. and Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu, held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Field, Ebenebe, Awka North Local Government Area and was witnessed by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor as well as some Traditional Rulers of Awka North LGA. led by Igwe Ebenebe, HRH Igwe Nnaemeka Christopher Nnaegbuna and the President General of Ebenebe, Sir Raymond Arinze.
The Senator accompanied by his wife, Lady Prisca Umeh (Osodieme) also had in his entourage, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Ikem Uzoezie, the Chairman of NDC Awka North LGA. Chapter, Mr Edwin Obinna Nwankwo, and Secretary of Senator Victor Umeh Campaign Council, Barr. Ekemezie Obidigwe (Ekwuje-Kwuje), former Chairman of Awka North LGA. and NDC Stalwart, the Coordinator of Senator Victor Umeh Campaign in Awka North LGA. Mr Solomon Ozuah, Hon. Ferdinand Onwuje, the former Women PG of Ebenebe, Lady Favour Nworah and NDC Stalwart.
Presenting the empowerment materials comprising of 300 bags of 50kg fertilizer and over 20 Multipurpose Irrigation/Spraying Machines, Senator Umeh emphasized the need to encourage local farmers to boost agricultural produce in order to cushion the effects of the present economic hardship and hunger in the country. He therefore charged beneficiaries to endeavor to deploy the items to use in their farm for a bumper harvest.
He pointed out that the Exercise would continue in other Local Government Areas particularly those covering the agrarian communities. The Senator commended the Pinatech Engineering Nig. Ltd. as well as the Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu for supporting the initiative.
In their separate speeches, the President General of Ebenebe, Sir Raymond Arinze and the Traditional Ruler of Ebenebe, HRH Igwe Nnaemeka Christopher Nnaegbuna extolled Senator Victor Umeh’s proactive and people-oriented representation. Also, he was praised for his scholarship for 33 Awka North students who are among the 332 beneficiaries of the Anambra Central Scholarship Programme and 10 other Awka North indigenes who had previously graduated from his (Senator Umeh’s) Education Foundation.
Similarly, the Senator was commended for facilitating the employment of some Awka North indigenes into gainful and pensionable jobs as well as his numerous Constituency Projects and human capacity development Programmes in Awka North.
On his part, the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor praised Senator Victor Umeh for his continued support for the Church especially in supporting the educational apostolate of the Diocese, as well as his deliberate and visionary impact geared towards providing better welfare for the people, transformation of lives and the Society.
The Bishop prayed for God’s continued blessings and favours for Senator Victor Umeh especially as he seeks re-election into the Senate.
He further charged beneficiaries of the empowerment Exercise to leverage on the noble gestures of Senator Victor Umeh to maximize their farm production while praying for divine increase and abundance of God’s blessings.
