ABUJA — Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, OFR, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industries and Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, has declared that sustained grassroots engagement, responsive leadership, and visible development projects remain the foundation of enduring political success.
Speaking during an interview on his political philosophy and achievements in office on Tuesday, Fadahunsi emphasized that politics must remain people-centered, warning that leaders who lose touch with their constituents risk political failure regardless of their positions or influence.
“Politics is fundamentally about the people. If you are disconnected from the grassroots, you will ultimately fail,” the senator stated.
Afrilensnews reports that Fadahunsi attributed his political longevity and continued support across Osun East to years of direct engagement with communities, traditional institutions, religious groups, women associations, youth organizations, and other stakeholders within the senatorial district.
According to him, effective representation requires constant interaction with constituents and a clear understanding of their challenges.
“One of the lessons I have learned over the years is that political success is built on constant engagement with the people at the community level,” he said.
“You cannot sit back because you hold a position or have influential contacts and expect political support to come automatically. Politics is local, and leaders must remain accessible and responsive to their constituents.”
The lawmaker highlighted several interventions undertaken through his office, including road construction and rehabilitation projects, bridge development, provision of electricity transformers, solar-powered facilities, educational support initiatives, employment opportunities, and rural development programmes.
He noted that communities across Osun East have benefited from various projects aimed at improving living conditions and expanding access to basic infrastructure.
“Our people know that whatever resources are available to us are utilized for their benefit. We have invested significantly in community development projects, including roads, bridges, transformers, solar-powered facilities, educational support programmes, employment opportunities, and other interventions that directly impact lives,” he said.
Fadahunsi further disclosed that his office has facilitated employment opportunities for hundreds of young people in federal agencies and institutions, particularly within the power sector and other strategic government establishments.
“In the power sector alone, over 400 individuals have benefited from employment opportunities facilitated through our efforts,” he revealed.
“Beyond that, many young people have secured positions in federal establishments, including the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), the Bank of Industry (BOI), and several other agencies.”
The senator also stressed the importance of inclusiveness in governance, saying development efforts under his representation have been extended to all segments of society regardless of religious affiliation.
“We work closely with both Christian and Muslim communities because development knows no religious boundaries,” he said.
On the political climate in Osun State, Fadahunsi expressed confidence that voters would continue to support leaders whose records reflect measurable achievements and commitment to public welfare.
“The people of Osun are politically aware and can distinguish between promises and actual results. They can see the projects that have been delivered and the impact those projects have had on their communities,” he noted.
The senator argued that performance and credibility remain stronger political assets than campaign rhetoric, insisting that public office holders must be judged by their contributions to the lives of citizens.
Looking ahead to future elections, he said his priority would remain strengthening engagement with constituents, attracting more federal projects, creating opportunities for young people, and expanding infrastructure development across Osun East.
“Ultimately, politics is about service. When you serve the people sincerely, remain accessible, and address their needs, they will continue to stand by you,” Fadahunsi stated.
The remarks come amid increasing political activities and early realignments ahead of future electoral contests in Osun State. Political observers believe the emphasis on constituency projects, youth empowerment, and grassroots mobilization could shape voter decisions in the coming election cycle, particularly in areas where demands for visible governance outcomes continue to grow.
