Afrilensnews reports that an Abia-based woman, identified as Amarachi Chinyere, has accused a man, Agwu Ukpo, of violently attacking her after she allegedly turned down his sexual advances.

The allegation comes days after a disturbing video showing the assault circulated widely on social media, sparking outrage and calls for justice.

Speaking in a video shared by human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, Amarachi recounted the events that reportedly led to the attack. According to her, the suspect had approached her seeking a sexual relationship and offered her N50,000, but she declined because she is married.

“One day, that boy asked me, he say he wan f**k me. I tell am say no. He say he go give me N50,000. I tell am no, say I don marry,” she said.

Amarachi claimed that tensions escalated following her rejection. She alleged that Ukpo later poured her soup into a plate used for washing hands, prompting her to report the incident to his brother, Obinna.

According to her account, she later responded by placing a portion of Ukpo’s soup in the same location where he had allegedly discarded hers. However, Obinna reportedly intervened and advised her to leave the matter alone.

She further stated that the situation deteriorated when Ukpo accused her of insulting him and threatened physical violence.

“The boy con dey shout say I dey insult am, say he go beat me one day. I tell am say you go beat me, wetin I do you. He con hold me for that place, con dey beat. He hit me for back, he dey hit my eye, he dey hit me for chest,” she said.

Amarachi added that a bystander who was recording the incident pleaded with the suspect to stop the attack, but his appeals were allegedly ignored.

“The boy wey dey do video, he dey say leave this girl alone, this girl no do you anything, he no mind the boy, he con dey beat me. My body don weak, the boy from fence con run,” she added.

The woman is now calling for legal action against the suspect and is seeking reimbursement for medical expenses allegedly incurred following the assault.

“I want justice. I want police people carry am go court. All the money wey my husband spend, he go pay back,” she said.

The Abia State Police Command has since arrested the 37-year-old suspect. Authorities disclosed that investigations are ongoing, and the suspect could face charges including assault and attempted murder upon conclusion of the probe.

The case has generated significant public attention, with many Nigerians demanding accountability and stronger protection for women facing violence. If the allegations are established in court, the suspect could face serious criminal penalties under applicable laws.
