The reform push within the Federal Character Commission gathered pace Thursday as the Committee on Works, Transport & Aviation held a high-level interactive session with the leadership of the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation at the Commission’s headquarters.
Leading the delegation, Surveyor General Abdulganiyu Adebomehin appeared before the Committee as part of what officials described as a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening oversight and deepening awareness among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) under the Committee’s supervision.
The meeting, insiders say, is one of several deliberate steps aligned with the Commission’s ongoing reform agenda, designed to enhance compliance, transparency, and institutional effectiveness across federal bodies.
The engagement didn’t end there. The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Hulayat Ayo Omidiran, whose leadership has been widely acknowledged within the Commission as forward-looking and result-driven.
Speaking after the session, Chairman of the Committee, Peter Eze, emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration, noting that the engagement forms part of a broader mission to reposition the Commission for greater national impact.
He stated, “the ongoing engagement and sensitization of MDAs under our committee supervision” remains central to achieving the objectives of the Commission’s reform initiatives, adding that such interactions are critical to enshrines alignment with federal character principles.
Observers believe the development signals a renewed urgency within the Commission to tighten oversight and drive reforms that could significantly reshape governance standards across MDAs.
