The Labour Party has announced that its National Executive Committee (NEC) will meet on June 11, 2026, to ratify the results of the party’s recently concluded primary elections conducted across the country.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa, the meeting is being convened in accordance with Article 28 of the Labour Party Constitution 2026.
According to the statement, the NEC meeting will bring together statutory members of the committee, candidates who emerged from the primaries, party organs, representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), members of the media, and other stakeholders.
The party said the meeting would formally approve the results of the nationwide primaries and authorize the submission of the names of successful candidates to INEC in line with the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution.
The Labour Party also disclosed that the presentation of Certificates of Return to candidates who emerged for the offices of President, Governor, Senate, and House of Representatives will commence immediately after the NEC ratifies the primary election results.
Describing the meeting as significant, the party noted that it would be the first NEC session following its recent National Convention and the nomination of candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The statement added that the gathering would play a strategic role in the party’s preparations and mobilisation efforts ahead of the forthcoming elections.
“The meeting is of strategic importance to the party’s overall preparations and mobilisation efforts ahead of the forthcoming elections,” the statement said.
The NEC meeting is expected to set the stage for the next phase of the Labour Party’s campaign activities as it intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
